A broken link is a link that doesn’t work, often resulting in an error page. The error “HTTP 404 – File not found Error” showing when users attempts to follow a broken or dead link.

What is HTTP 404 – File not found Error ?

HTTP 404 error is one of the most recognizable errors users can find on the web. It is an HTTP status code that means the page you were trying to reach on a website couldn’t be found on their Web Server. There are four possibilities why a file cannot be found.

  1. The page has been removed from the server
  2. The path is wrong
  3. The syntax is incorrect
  4. The file name is wrong or a typing mistakes from users side.
